About Colt Officers

The Colt Officer’s Model or Officer’s ACP is a single-action, magazine-fed, recoil-operated pistol that was based on the original J.M. Browning design of the M1911. The semi-automatic was introduced in 1985 to satisfy continuing interest and demands of the shooters for smaller versions of the original M1911 design.In 1985, Colt developed their own compact model named the “Colt Officer’s ACP”.The next year, a whole aluminum-framed model was introduced, called the “Lightweight Officer’s ACP”.

This gun model weighs only 24 oz., measuring in the total of 7.5”, with the barrel length of 3.5”.Colt developed later on a parkerized version of the 1911 model, featuring the same dimensions as the Officer’s ACP model and with the firing pin safety typical for the 80 series models.There were several other gun versions introduced in the 2000s, for example by TALO (Special Wiley Clapp edition) and the Pistol Smiths at GunSite Academy.
